Super Eagles’ Bonus Row: Peter Obi Condemns Non-Payment Ahead of AFCON Quarter-Final

Peter Obi on ADC: “I Can’t Re-join What I’m Already Part Of”

Former Anambra State governor and ADC 2027 presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, has criticised the ongoing non-payment of match allowances owed to Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, calling it a national embarrassment that undermines the country’s image and morale.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Obi expressed concern that Nigeria continues to generate troubling headlines even at moments when citizens need unity and positive distractions.

He highlighted the pride the Super Eagles bring to the nation, lifting the spirits of Nigerians at home and abroad through their recent performances, yet now facing unnecessary distractions because their agreed match bonuses remain unpaid.

“At a time when Nigerians need joy and unity—something the Super Eagles have been providing by winning matches and lifting our spirits worldwide—these same players are being denied their basic match allowances,” Obi wrote.
