Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme, has cautioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) about pursuing a review of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Kpandai parliamentary election. Speaking on Channel One TV on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Vanderpuye highlighted the toll that prolonged election disputes can take on resources, morale, and public perception.
He urged the party to weigh the potential benefits against the costs of extended litigation. “I’ve witnessed cases drag on for years without meaningful results. Sometimes it’s wiser to accept the outcome, regroup, and plan strategically for future contests,” he explained, stressing the physical, financial, and emotional strain such proceedings can cause.
Vanderpuye also pointed out that the Supreme Court’s 4-1 majority decision requires exceptionally strong grounds for any review. “If there’s compelling evidence, a review could be justified. But without it, pursuing this would likely be futile,” he added.
The NDC expressed disappointment after the apex court reinstated NPP parliamentary candidate Matthew Nyindam, citing a High Court jurisdictional error. Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang was the sole dissenter. Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor urged supporters to remain calm, noting that while a review remains an option, the ruling does not end the party’s political efforts in Kpandai.
