Tragedy has struck the family of Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi following the death of his father, Sunday Ndidi, in a road accident in Delta State.
The retired military officer was reportedly involved in a fatal crash on Monday in Umunede and was rushed to a hospital in Agbor, where he was later confirmed dead.
Ndidi’s Turkish club, Beşiktaş J.K, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement shared on X.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident,” the club stated.
“May Allah grant mercy to the deceased; we extend our condolences to our footballer Wilfred Ndidi, his family, and loved ones.”
Wilfred Ndidi recently led Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The midfielder also scored his first international goal during the tournament.
Since the news broke, fans and members of the football community have flooded social media with messages of sympathy and support for Ndidi and his family during this difficult period.
