A heartbreaking video circulating online shows a distraught woman weeping over the destruction of her brother’s home during an ongoing demolition exercise along Teshie Bush Road.

The demolition, being carried out by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) with support from military officers, targets unauthorised structures encroaching on the lagoon as part of efforts to reduce persistent flooding in the area.

In the video, the woman is seen standing amid the ruins, struggling to hold back tears as she surveys the wreckage of what once served as her brother’s shelter. Visibly shaken, she laments the loss and questions the manner in which the exercise was carried out.

“They could have at least left the container for him to use,” she cried, her voice breaking as she attempted to salvage a few remaining belongings from the debris.

The footage captures the raw aftermath of the demolition, with residents left displaced and possessions scattered. As the woman recounts her ordeal, tears stream down her face, reflecting the deep emotional toll the exercise has taken on affected families.

While authorities say the operation is necessary to prevent flooding and protect lives and property, the demolition has sparked concern over the humanitarian impact on residents who have lost their homes and means of livelihood.
