In an unexpected move that left users puzzled, X on Sunday suspended the official @Twitter account, wiping the profile and replacing it with a standard notice claiming the account violated platform rules.
Anyone attempting to access the handle was greeted with an “Account Suspended” message, with no clarification on what rule was breached or whether the ban is temporary or permanent.
The suspension raised eyebrows online, especially given that Twitter was rebranded as X in July 2023, months after Elon Musk acquired the platform in a $44 billion deal. Many users questioned why an account tied to the platform’s former identity would suddenly disappear.
