Lawyer and Manhyia South MP, Hon. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has strongly pushed back against allegations circulating about a GH¢6 million land deal linked with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The lawmaker describes these media claims as complete falsehoods aimed at smearing his hard-earned reputation.
Instead of fighting a media war, he is presenting concrete documentary proof in court to set the record straight.
Addressing media reports claiming he settled a land matter for GH¢5 million and personally pocketed GH¢2.2 million, Baffour Awuah clarified that the full transaction history tells a completely different story.
He revealed that an initial GH¢1.4 million had already been recovered from Equity Savings and Loans before the final GH¢5 million settlement agreement. Adding both sums together brings the total recovery to GH¢6.4 million, completely disproving claims that the institution lost money.
The Manhyia South lawmaker stressed that a lawyer does not force a settlement on a client. Counsel takes proposals to the client, and the client decides whether to accept or reject them.
The board and management of SIC Life Savings and Loans fully reviewed, approved, and signed every document. The legal fees paid represented legitimate remuneration for professional services rendered over years of litigation.
Baffour Awuah noted that trial by public media distorts facts, whereas signed documents in court reveal the truth every single time.
He remains confident that judicial scrutiny will vindicate his position completely and protect his professional standing.
