Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson is scheduled to present Ghana’s 2027 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 12, 2026.
The budget, titled “The New Economy,” is expected to outline the government’s economic priorities and plans for the 2027 financial year.
Majority Leader James Agalga announced the presentation date in Parliament on Friday, November 6, urging ministries, independent constitutional bodies and state agencies to submit their budget estimates on time to allow Parliament to scrutinise them.
The presentation is expected to explain how the government intends to generate revenue, manage public expenditure and support economic growth.
Focus on jobs and business growth
Dr Forson has indicated that the budget will explain how Ghana can translate its economic recovery into tangible benefits for citizens.
These include decent employment opportunities for young people, improved incomes for farmers and an enabling environment for local businesses to expand and employ more workers.
The budget is also expected to provide details of the government’s US$10 billion New Economy programme, a four-year investment plan running from 2027 to 2030.
The programme is intended to expand domestic production, increase local processing of raw materials and support Ghanaian businesses to compete in local and international markets.
Parliament to scrutinise the proposals
The budget presentation will be followed by parliamentary consideration of the government’s revenue and expenditure proposals.
A post-budget workshop for Members of Parliament and other stakeholders has also been scheduled for November 15 to 17 at the Volta Serene Hotel.
The 2027 Budget is expected to provide details of the government’s plans to move from economic stabilisation towards productivity, job creation and improved living standards.
