In a dramatic development for Ghanaian football, head coach Carlos Queiroz has officially left his role leading the Black Stars. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed that both parties mutually agreed to terminate the technical contract following a meeting in Accra.
The announcement comes right after intense public discussion following the national team’s recent struggles in international competitions.
While Queiroz successfully guided Ghana to the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, recent qualifying results created heavy friction. Dropping crucial points in the opening AFCON qualifiers put immense pressure on the technical bench.
In his farewell statement, the veteran manager stated that necessary operational conditions were not fully established to guarantee long-term progress. He urged passionate supporters across the country to protect and support the young playing body as they build for future tournaments.
The Portuguese coach emphasized that Ghana’s football talent remains special, but proper administrative alignment must back technical teams on the pitch.
The GFA Executive Council plans to assemble an interim technical committee before announcing a permanent replacement. Football stakeholders are urging quick decision-making to prepare the squad for upcoming qualification fixtures.
Dedicated supporters hope new leadership brings structural stability, consistent tactical setups, and renewed energy to the Black Stars camp.
