The leadership transition within the prominent Kwadwo Safo estate has taken a major legal and security turn. The family of the late Apostle Emeritus Professor Kwadwo Safo has officially confirmed that former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo remains in a stable condition.
Issuing a formal press statement on Monday June 22 2026, the family revealed that the former lawmaker is recovering steadily at a medical facility after sustaining gunshot injuries during a violent confrontation on Sunday.
The shocking weekend violence stems directly from an intense internal dispute over who has the rightful mandate to lead the Kristo Asafo Mission.

The family statement explained that the violent encounter began when Adwoa Safo, identified as the officially recognized Head of the Kwadwo Safo Family, attempted to serve formal court injunction documents on her younger brother, Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo, who is popularly known as Akofena.
The legal documents aimed to halt a private installation ceremony intended to name Akofena the supreme leader of the church. The family alleges that Akofena discharged a firearm multiple times toward his sister and instructed his associates to open fire on her vehicle.
To clear up any confusion among church members, the family clarified that the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo had completely revoked a previous mandate given to Akofena to succeed him. In response to the shooting, the Ghana Police Service has arrested six of Akofena’s bodyguards to assist with ongoing criminal investigations.

By allowing the state police to fully prosecute the shooters and keeping all sides accountable to the high court, the Kristo Asafo Mission can successfully protect its massive national investments and safely determine its true constitutional path.
