Ghana US investment in agriculture is gaining momentum following high-level talks in Pennsylvania between Ghanaian officials and Business PA, the state’s economic development agency
The strategic meeting in Harrisburg brought together Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Victor, the Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness, Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, and Business PA’s Senior Managing Director for International Trade and Investment, David Briel.

Ghana US Investment Push Targets Agribusiness
The discussions centered on expanding Ghana US investment opportunities in agribusiness and strengthening bilateral economic cooperation as Ghana positions itself as a regional hub for agricultural production and agro-industrial development.
Ghana’s delegation emphasized the country’s strategic geographic location, political stability, investor-friendly climate, and growing domestic market as compelling advantages for American companies seeking African market entry through Ghana.
Particular focus was placed on agricultural value chains where Pennsylvania has demonstrated expertise, including dairy production, vanilla cultivation, food processing, and value-added agricultural products that could be developed competitively within Ghana’s agricultural ecosystem.

Pennsylvania Firms Eye Ghana Market Entry
David Briel explored pathways for Pennsylvania-based companies to expand operations into Ghana in ways that support the country’s food security objectives while enabling American firms to scale into the broader African market.
The meeting also examined collaboration opportunities in food technology and innovation, particularly in modern farming techniques, agro-processing systems, storage infrastructure, cold-chain logistics, and post-harvest management—all identified as critical for improving productivity and reducing post-harvest losses.
Government Prioritizes Agricultural Transformation
Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor underscored the Government of Ghana’s renewed focus on agriculture and agribusiness as a cornerstone of economic transformation, noting that current policy direction prioritizes investment attraction, technology transfer, value addition, and youth job creation.
Ambassador Victor reaffirmed Ghana’s openness to partnerships extending beyond trade into long-term collaboration, innovation exchange, and sustainable development, indicating that cooperation with Pennsylvania presents strong potential for mutually beneficial outcomes.
The Business PA engagement represents another step in Ghana’s ongoing effort to deepen Ghana US investment ties, with agriculture increasingly positioned as a key driver of growth, regional trade integration, and shared prosperity.
