President Tinubu Forwards List of 32 Ambassadorial Nominees to Senate for Confirmation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted a new list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

In two separate letters addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President appealed to the Senate to give the nominations urgent consideration. The list is divided into 15 career ambassadors drawn from the existing foreign service, and 17 non-career ambassadors appointed from different parts of the country.

The nominees reflect a spread across states and regions, with the Presidency highlighting a balance of experience and fresh representation. Another notable detail is the inclusion of 10 women—four among the career ambassadors and six on the non-career list—showing a slight increase in female representation compared to previous submissions.

If confirmed, the ambassadors will represent Nigeria in various countries and international missions, taking on roles that shape diplomacy, economic relations, and bilateral engagement.
