Pretty Mike Reopens Proxy Lagos After Tough Times

Lagos socialite Mike Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, is set to reopen his popular nightclub, Proxy Lagos, nearly seven months after it was raided by the NDLEA.

In an emotional Instagram video posted on Tuesday, Pretty Mike opened up about the deep personal struggles he has faced recently, including the painful loss of his father, whom he called his hero.

He described how the grief left him broken and forced him to step away from the spotlight for a while.“Hello everyone, it’s been a minute since I’ve been on this space,” he said.

“There comes a moment in life when everything should actually just come to a pause. For me, that moment was burying my father, my hero.”Beyond the flashy lifestyle and grand entrances people often see, Pretty Mike admitted he is still human and the combination of losing his dad and the devastating raid on his club shook him badly. The NDLEA raid on Proxy Lagos happened on October 26, 2025, leading to the arrest of over 100 people, including Pretty Mike himself and former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh.

The agency said they recovered banned substances from the venue. The incident badly damaged his reputation, affected his staff and clients, and forced the club to shut down.In his video, Pretty Mike spoke honestly about the emotional “earthquake” the raid caused: “My name was dragged, my brand was smeared, doors were shut on me.” But he also shared the powerful lessons he learned through the pain.

Proxy Lagos has been cleared to reopen, and Pretty Mike is inviting everyone to join him in this comeback.“Proxy is more than a nightclub. It’s a culture. It’s a vibe. It’s where Lagos comes alive,” he said. “This is the comeback.

This is me and you rebuilding our brand. This is rising after grief. Let’s make this stronger than the pain.”In the caption of his video, he expressed deep gratitude to those who supported him during his lowest moments.

“Seven months ago, my world fell apart. From the pain of losing my father to the crushing blow that hit my business, it’s been a season of heavy silence. But I am returning today with a heart full of gratitude. To everyone who checked on me and kept me in your prayers, thank you for not letting me go. I am back, blessed, and rebuilding.”Pretty Mike’s announcement has sparked excitement among his fans and supporters in Lagos. Many see the reopening as not just the return of a nightclub, but a symbol of resilience and second chances.
