Recent data released by the Computerised School Selection and Placement System reveals a surprising academic reality across Ghana.
Out of roughly 620,000 candidates who sat for the examinations, only 35 percent managed to secure aggregates ranging from six to 24.
This translates to about 252,000 students who met the standard bracket required for smooth secondary school admissions.
Breaking down the numbers further shows that only 17 percent of the total candidates attained elite aggregates between six and 18.
In actual figures, this represents approximately 107,000 brilliant minds who performed exceptionally well in their core and elective subjects.
While panic might spread among parents, education experts note that raw scores and specific subject requirements still play a massive role in final placements.
The CSSPS coordinator clarified that out of the total test takers, about 565,000 candidates successfully qualified to enter the placement phase.
Unfortunately, this leaves nearly 55,000 students sitting outside the automatic placement bracket due to various qualification hurdles.
Failing core subjects like English Language or Mathematics remains an instant barrier that automatically disqualifies a candidate from the computerized process.
Stakeholders are strongly advised to utilize designated regional call centers and resolution desks to address placement challenges.
Panicking over a grade nine on the slip is unnecessary because raw marks are deeply reviewed before final verdicts are passed.
Staying calm and following official guidelines from the Ghana Education Service will help parents navigate this year’s placement hurdles successfully.
