Trained health professionals waiting at home for financial clearance can now understand why their deployment remains on hold. Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, has broken down the main issues stalling automatic postings for newly graduated nurses across the country.
Speaking on UTV’s Morning Show Adekye Nsroma on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the lawmaker explained that government must clear a massive inherited backlog before launching the promised automatic posting system.
Clearing the Huge Backlog First
The MP highlighted that unposted nursing batches stretch as far back as 2020 and 2021. Deploying newer 2025 graduates while older batches sit idle without jobs would create unfairness across the healthcare sector.
When President John Dramani Mahama promised automatic postings during the election campaign, leadership did not fully grasp the extent of unposted graduates left behind. The current administration plans to clear these outstanding groups systematically within its four-year mandate.
Sector-Wide Challenges Beyond Nursing
Bernard Bediako Baidoo emphasized that deployment delays extend beyond the Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Education faces an even larger backlog, with qualified teachers waiting for placement since 2016.
Fixing administrative bottlenecks requires securing sustainable financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance. Recklessly deploying fresh graduates without budgeting for monthly salaries only leads to months of unpaid wages for health workers.
Hope for Nursing Graduates
The government assures health trainees that clearing the backlog remains top priority to rebuild confidence in state health institutions. Orderly deployments will ensure every trained nurse gains secure employment without unnecessary delay.
Affected health professionals are encouraged to exercise patience while officials work out funding clearance to absorb all pending batches into public clinics.
