A popular Ghanaian TikToker named Almed has sparked a massive online debate after a serious confrontation with the police. The viral video shows him boldly questioning officers about Ghana laws regarding two men kissing.
The drama started when police officers stopped Almed and his friends during a drive. The officers strongly claimed they saw two of his male friends kissing inside the vehicle. Almed immediately challenged them and demanded legal proof that such an act is a crime.
Almed later posted a detailed explanation video on his TikTok page to clear the air. He firmly stated that his friends never kissed and the police simply made up the story. He wanted everyone to know the pure facts behind the viral confrontation.
In his explanation video Almed revealed a painful past experience with the police. He shared that officers once slapped him multiple times during a similar incident just because he tried to explain his side of the story. This revelation has made many Ghanaians question police conduct on our roads.
Legally speaking Ghana operates under the Criminal Offences Act which frowns upon unnatural carnal knowledge. However the exact legal interpretation of kissing between two men in a private car remains a grey area. The recent parliamentary discussions on anti LGBTQ bills have only made the public more sensitive to these topics.
This situation clearly shows the tension between civilians and law enforcement in the country. Many young people now use social media to document their daily encounters and demand accountability from authorities. We will wait and see if the Ghana Police Service drops an official statement on this specific matter.
