Ghanaian-American music sensation Amaarae made history on April 13, 2025, as the first Ghanaian artiste to perform a solo set at Coachella, one of the world’s biggest music and arts festivals.
Performing at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, Amaarae didn’t just rock the stage—she turned it into a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian culture and music.
A Global Stage, A Local Voice
As she delivered her genre-bending hits to an electrified crowd, Amaarae made sure the world knew where she was from.
“A lotta the music you just heard is from my home country, Ghana. I love my country so much,” she said mid-performance, her voice full of pride as the Ghana flag waved proudly on stage.
She performed not only her chart-toppers, but also highlighted songs from fellow Ghanaian acts like Eazzy, Joey B, La Même Gang, and the Asakaa Boys, putting Ghana’s diverse music scene on the global map.
A Bold Moment On Stage
In a jaw-dropping twist, Amaarae cut off her long hair live on stage, captivating the audience with her raw energy and defiant individuality.
She used the moment to announce her upcoming album, titled “Black Star,” which is set to drop this summer—another nod to her Ghanaian roots.
