The West African Examinations Council has finally dropped the hammer on examination malpractice for the 2026 WASSCE season in Ghana. Following the 42nd Meeting of the Ghana Examinations Committee, authorities approved strict penalties affecting thousands of candidates who failed to play by the rules. Wisdom is better than hidden cheat notes because the council proved they have eagle eyes this year.
Official reports confirm that the entire results of 861 candidates were completely cancelled because they smuggled mobile phones straight into examination halls. Furthermore, the subject results of 7,434 candidates suffered cancellation after invigilators caught them with unauthorized foreign materials like prepared notebooks and bulky textbooks. Nobody can outsmart the system forever when strict supervision is active on the ground.
Aside from the outright cancellations, WAEC decided to withhold the subject results of 957 candidates alongside the entire results of another 270 individuals over pending offences. Schools are not left out of the drama either because subject results originating from 169 distinct schools remain frozen due to massive collusion suspicions. Those investigations should wrap up by October 30, 2026, determining whether affected students smile or regret their choices.
Desperate students must avoid internet fraudsters parading online with fake promises to upgrade locked or cancelled grades for quick cash. WAEC insists that their database remains heavily secured and fully verifiable through official portals only. Honest preparation remains the ultimate key to passing any secondary school examination without unnecessary heartbreaks.
