Ghanaian boxing fans have every reason to jubilation because our own Seth Freezy Macbones Gyimah has done it again on foreign soil. He stepped into the ring in Lagos during the Chaos in the Ring event and showed pure Ghanaian resilience. Fighting against Nigeria hard hitter Godday Zodsolo Appah was never going to be an easy stroll in the park.
The epic Ghana versus Nigeria showdown took place at The Balmoral in Lagos as part of their Independence Day celebrations. Both warriors traded heavy punches across the rounds to the excitement of boxing lovers watching live and on television. When the smoke finally cleared after a fierce battle, the judges scored the intense contest 95-93, 95-93, and 94-94.
This narrow victory handed Freezy Macbones the coveted World Boxing Organization Africa light heavyweight title. It proves that hard work and perseverance truly pay off, especially after bouncing back strongly from previous setbacks. Our champion showed great tactical discipline to conquer a tough opponent right in front of home fans in Lagos.
Supporters back home in Accra and Kumasi have taken to social media to celebrate this massive continental achievement. Freezy has proven once more that Ghanaian boxing talent remains top notch on the African continent and beyond. We are all waiting eagerly to see him defend his new belt and make Ghana proud again.
