The Ghana Education Service (GES) says it will engage relevant stakeholders to explore measures to recover lessons lost during the nearly two-week strike by teacher unions.
The Public Relations Officer of GES, Daniel Fenyi, disclosed this on Saturday during an interview with Sir John on Wonsom on Akoma 87.9 FM.
According to Mr Fenyi, the service is considering possible ways to help schools make up for the instructional time lost during the industrial action.
Among the options being considered are shorter school breaks and extended teaching hours. However, these measures are still under consideration and will require discussions with the relevant stakeholders.
The proposed measures are intended to help teachers complete the required syllabus without leaving students academically disadvantaged because of the strike.
The nearly two-week industrial action disrupted teaching and learning in affected schools, raising concerns about how the lost classroom time could be recovered.
Any decision to change school hours or break periods will need to consider the welfare of both teachers and students, as well as the practical challenges schools may face.
Parents, teachers and school administrators will be watching for further updates as GES engages stakeholders on the way forward.
The service is expected to provide more information after the consultations and any decisions on the proposed arrangements.
