The government has officially launched an aggressive operation to clear accumulated refuse choking Jamestown in Accra. Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Mahama Ayariga announced that heavy equipment and trucks are being pulled together. This massive intervention aims to restore environmental sanity and improve public health outcomes.
State resources are combining with private sector machinery to fast track the evacuation exercise. Authorities are partnering with major construction firms in the Greater Accra and Eastern regions to deploy idle bulldozers and excavators. Transporting the piled up refuse will directly feed into the engineered Adipa Landfill located at Nsawam.
Moving the garbage away is only the first step in a larger structural transformation. Plans are underway to involve military protection to prevent future illegal dumping and unauthorized squatting on the cleared land. Residents can finally look forward to a healthier community layout and sustainable urban renewal.
