This bold move comes after intense public concern over overflowing waste sites threatening public health within the Greater Accra Region.
Local authorities are partnering with major private waste contractors to move the heavy backlog out of the historic community quickly.
Heavy-duty articulated trucks will work through the night to haul compacted refuse away from residential areas and transport it safely to the engineered site.
Security forces including the military will also step in to secure the transfer station zone during the massive evacuation exercise.
City dwellers have long complained about the environmental hazards caused by delayed rubbish clearance in densely populated coastal neighborhoods.
Government officials promise that this massive cleanup will restore total sanity and improve general hygiene standards across the entire metropolis.
Constant monitoring by environmental health officers will ensure that no new illegal dumping sites spring up after the current evacuation process ends.
