They stand accused of looking the other way while heavy criminal cargo slipped past port security. People are wondering how such a massive oversight could happen under broad daylight.
Investigators point fingers at the Customs scanning process at Tema Port. Court documents show that the container images clearly displayed red flags that demanded proper physical checks. Instead of stopping the cargo, the system let the containers sail smoothly toward Europe. It is funny how plastic scraps and pet flakes suddenly turn into multi-million euro contraband when foreign authorities open them up.
This massive bust involves a staggering 3.9 tonnes of cocaine valued at roughly €225 million. French authorities intercepted the shipment after it left Ghanaian shores, sending shockwaves straight through local security agencies. When international syndicates use our primary gateway for dirty business, it dents the hard-earned reputation of our port systems.
State prosecutors are pushing hard to ensure that all accomplices face strict judicial accountability. The court has kept the suspects locked up as investigations dig deeper into local warehouse networks. Ghanaians expect total transparency so that public officials who betray public trust face the full wrath of the law.
