The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is set to receive 2,000 additional laptops to support digital skills training under Ghana’s One Million Coders Programme.
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, said the programme aims to create 100,000 digitally enabled jobs.
The additional laptops are expected to give more trainees access to computers and improve their practical learning experience at KNUST.
The One Million Coders Programme seeks to equip Ghanaians with digital skills that can open doors to employment and other opportunities in the technology sector.
As more businesses adopt digital tools, skills in areas such as coding and software development are becoming increasingly important. The programme aims to prepare participants to take advantage of these opportunities.
The government’s target of creating 100,000 digitally enabled jobs highlights its focus on linking digital training with employment. However, achieving this goal will depend on effective training, access to job opportunities and the ability of participants to apply their skills.
The additional laptops are expected to strengthen the programme’s activities at KNUST and support efforts to prepare more Ghanaians for the growing digital economy.
