My friend called me yesterday with a crazy story about a local landlord who completely lost his cool over rent. The landlord abruptly raised the rent from GH¢2,500 to GH¢3,000 without any prior warning. The tenant rightly called out the hike because the room simply did not justify that steep price tag.

IMO, things hit peak absurdity when the landlord took matters into his own hands and trapped the renter. The landlord locked the tenant inside the hostel to stop him from moving his belongings out safely.

Know Your Renter Rights
Landlords cannot just lock people up or kick them out on a whim. You must understand local tenancy laws to protect yourself from rogue property owners. Always demand official written notice before you accept any sudden rent increases or move out requests.
FYI, letting landlords get away with bullying sets a terrible precedent for everyone renting in the city. Stand your ground, know your rights, and never let anyone lock you inside your own room over a fee dispute!
