Former President John Mahama has launched a two-day tour in the Oti Region as part of his #Mahama4Change2024 campaign, beginning his outreach in Kwamekrom within the Biakoye constituency. This tour is aimed at addressing pressing national challenges and rallying support for his vision of a more prosperous, united Ghana.
Mahama’s visit to Oti follows his participation in a national campaign for peace led by various religious groups, underscoring his dedication to promoting national unity and stability.
During his campaign stops, Mahama outlined his proposed solutions to tackle key issues facing Ghanaians, particularly unemployment. His plans include creating jobs through a 24-hour economy, a $10 billion “BIG PUSH” infrastructure initiative, and a one million coders program to bolster the country’s digital workforce. Mahama highlights employment as a pathway to dignity and purpose, making job creation a core priority of his agenda.
A central part of Mahama’s platform is empowering women entrepreneurs. Together with his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, he aims to establish a Women’s Development Bank, which will provide capital support for women-owned businesses to promote growth and economic empowerment.
Mahama is also advocating for a National Apprentice Program to provide young Ghanaians with hands-on experience in skilled trades through paid apprenticeships. This program is intended to equip the youth with practical skills that meet market demands and build a skilled workforce for the future.
Throughout his tour in Oti, Mahama will engage directly with constituents, meeting with community leaders, visit local businesses, and delivering public addresses. His message centers on a vision for building “the Ghana we want together.”
