A woman has sparked widespread reactions on social media after publicly expressing her admiration for former Ghanaian president John Dramani Mahama ahead of the 2020 general elections.
The unidentified woman reportedly had a large tattoo of Mahama’s image inked on her back, a gesture many online users have described as extreme but attention-grabbing. Photos of the tattoo, first shared by a local entertainment blog, have since gone viral, fueling intense debate across various platforms.
While some social media users believe the act reflects deep political loyalty, others argue it could simply be a calculated move to gain public attention and online fame. The bold display has continued to divide opinion, with conversations centering on the limits of political support.
In a separate development, Mahama was recently recognized internationally for his contributions. He received an honorary doctorate in Letters from Igbinedion University during its 16th convocation ceremony.
As the 2020 elections approached, the former president was actively campaigning to secure his party’s flagbearer position, positioning himself for another run at the presidency. During this period, he also intensified his criticism of the administration led by Nana Akufo-Addo, highlighting key governance concerns.
The viral tattoo incident, combined with ongoing political developments, reflects the heightened emotions and strong allegiances shaping Ghana’s political landscape ahead of the polls.
