The political atmosphere inside the ruling National Democratic Congress government has taken a highly interesting turn following a major announcement from the presidency. President John Dramani Mahama has officially told public office hopefuls and party faithfuls to prepare for upcoming changes in his administrative setup.
The President clarified that changing appointments is a standard strategy to keep his governance team sharp and focused on national development. This timely revelation has naturally triggered intense conversations among local politicians who are looking for a golden opportunity to serve the state.
The President dropped these eye-opening hints during his massive Reset Tour and citizens engagement forum held in the Volta Region. While addressing the large gathering of local residents, Mahama explained that shifting ministers around ensures that the right talents handle the right sectors.
He told the cheering crowd that his administration will see continuous reshuffles, advising qualified individuals to keep their tools ready. The open declaration shows that the executive branch wants to prevent its current ministers from becoming lazy or too comfortable in their daily duties.
Beyond the upcoming human resource adjustments, President Mahama heavily defended his decision to run a highly streamlined government structure. The administration has purposely cut down the total number of presidential staff, advisers, and directors working inside the Jubilee House.
The executive workforce at the presidency dropped from approximately three hundred personnel down to a little over two hundred workers. The President logically argued that keeping the numbers low helps the state eliminate unnecessary public expenditure, ensuring that taxpayers money goes straight into real community projects rather than heavy government salaries.
To prove his commitment to fiscal discipline, the President reminded the public that he has kept his total number of ministers strictly limited to sixty. To make the system even more cost-effective, several major ministries and all regional ministerial offices are currently functioning without deputy ministers.
This structural strategy directly fulfills one of the primary governance promises Mahama made to the electorates during the 2024 election campaign. By running a compact executive team, the government aims to lower the high cost of running the state while maintaining supreme efficiency across all public institutions.
The presidency has given a firm assurance to civil society groups and international economic monitors that performance remains the ultimate key to staying in office. Ministers and heads of state agencies who fail to deliver on their core policy goals will naturally face the axe during the upcoming reshuffling exercises.
The upcoming changes will give the President a smooth path to bring fresh brains into his Cabinet to tackle pressing economic issues like youth unemployment and inflation.
