Ghanaians across the country are expressing deep concern after the Ghana Police Service took decisive action against individuals spreading dangerous religious content online.
Working closely with the National Signals Bureau, law enforcement officers apprehended two separate suspects over viral videos containing offensive and inciteful comments about Prophet Mohammed.
The first suspect is a thirty five year old Muslim cleric named Masud Abdullah who serves as an Imam in the Ashanti Region.
According to police reports, the Imam delivered a fiery sermon at a local mosque in Ntensere located within the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.
During this sermon, he allegedly made inflammatory statements publicly advocating violence against anyone who speaks ill of Prophet Mohammed.
In a separate operation conducted by the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, officers picked up another individual identified as Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei.
Also known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei, this second suspect allegedly recorded and circulated a video featuring derogatory and insulting remarks directed at Prophet Mohammed.
Both individuals are currently in police custody assisting with thorough investigations before facing formal prosecution in court.
Law enforcement authorities have issued a stern warning to religious leaders, preachers, and social media commentators across the nation.
The police emphasized that freedom of speech and religion does not grant anyone the legal right to incite violence or encourage citizens to harm others.
Officers urged the public to exercise high responsibility when sharing religious or political opinions on digital platforms that reach large audiences.
Ensuring peace and social harmony remains a collective national duty that requires every Ghanaian to reject hate speech and inflammatory rhetoric.
