Law enforcement agencies in the Upper East Region recently showed they mean business by storming the volatile Gbane mining site.

Joint security operations involving the police and military netted 16 suspects following rising tensions and security breaches in the enclave. When people turn mining fields into mini-war zones, quick state intervention becomes the only language they truly understand.

Officers did not just pick up suspects because the swoop yielded a massive cache of prohibited items and combat gear. Operatives recovered over two hundred live cartridges, pump-action guns, body armours, and wraps of suspected Indian hemp during the sweep. It beats the imagination why anyone would pack a mining pit like an armory unless trouble was the main agenda.

Community safety must always come first, and the police deserve praise for restoring calm to the troubled Talensi District. All sixteen suspects remain in custody assisting with ongoing investigations before facing the court of law. Ghanaians expect absolute peace in our mining hubs so that genuine workers can earn a daily bread without fear.
