The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) has declared an indefinite strike effective Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The association says the decision is in protest against unpaid post-retirement contracts owed to some of its members for about 27 months.
TUTAG is also protesting what it describes as unilateral changes to the agreed Scheme of Service issued on October 8, 2021, without consultation.
According to the association, the changes were made without proper engagement with its members.
The strike is expected to affect teaching and other academic activities at technical universities across the country.
TUTAG is calling on the relevant authorities to address the outstanding payments and engage the association to resolve the concerns surrounding the Scheme of Service.
The duration of the strike remains uncertain as the association seeks action on its demands.
