Team captain Jordan Ayew became the latest major star to pull out after reporting to camp in Accra. Medical scans confirmed he picked up a painful discomfort that renders him unfit to travel for the opening tie.
His sudden absence hits the squad hard given his strong leadership and consistent goal contributions. Coach Queiroz must now select a new matchday captain to lead the remaining squad into battle.
Attacking Lineup Suffers Double blow with Kudus and Semenyo
Key playmaker Mohammed Kudus opted out to continue his medical recovery program at Tottenham Hotspur after returning from a lengthy injury lay-off. Queiroz agreed to protect the player’s long-term health rather than rushing him onto the pitch.
