Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has withdrawn his GH¢2 million defamation suit against the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, following a consensus between the parties.

The suit was filed over alleged defamatory comments made by Mr Adjei against the Minority Leader. The legal action also involved Peace FM.

The withdrawal follows efforts to resolve the disagreement through consensus, bringing the legal dispute between the two parties to an end.

Afenyo-Markin had pursued the case to protect his reputation over the statements he considered defamatory. However, the latest development signals a move towards resolving the matter outside a prolonged court battle.

The withdrawal concerns the separate case against Eric Adjei and should not be confused with Afenyo-Markin’s separate defamation suit against GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, which has been the subject of separate court proceedings.
