The Western Regional Police Command has acted fast by arresting five suspects linked to the violent robbery and murder of 40-year-old gold buyer Seth Kobina at Agona Fie near Agona Nkwanta.
This tragic attack happened on August 20 when armed robbers targeted the victim at his gold-buying shop. The attackers shot Kobina directly in the chest, and medical staff sadly pronounced him dead on arrival at the Agona Nkwanta Hospital.
Police officers used clear CCTV footage and smart intelligence gathering to track down the alleged gang leader, Emmanuel Amponsah, who was popularly known as “Vandam.”
Officers arrested Amponsah the very next day after the incident. However, he fell ill during custody and died after police rushed him to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The ongoing police investigation has led to the arrest of four additional suspects connected to the crime. Authorities recovered locally manufactured pistols, live ammunition, sharp cutlasses, and several other illegal weapons from their hideout.
These four suspects are currently helping the police with deep investigations while security teams work tirelessly to track down remaining accomplices.
