Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson is scheduled to present Ghana’s 2027 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 12, 2026.
The presentation is expected to outline the government’s economic priorities for the coming year, with a strong focus on job creation, productivity, investment and improving living standards.
Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem announced the date during the launch of the Ghana Statistical Service’s Ghana in Numbers 2025 report in Accra.
He said the 2027 Budget would mark the next phase of the government’s economic agenda, shifting attention from macroeconomic stabilisation towards productivity, employment and prosperity.
US$10 Billion New Economy Programme
The budget is expected to provide details of the government’s US$10 billion New Economy programme, a four-year investment plan covering 2027 to 2030.
The programme is intended to expand domestic production, increase local processing of Ghana’s raw materials and create opportunities for Ghanaian businesses to grow and employ more people.
Dr Ato Forson has also indicated that the budget will explain how the government’s economic recovery efforts can translate into decent jobs for young people, better incomes for farmers and opportunities for businesses.
The New Economy agenda is expected to prioritise sectors such as commercial agriculture, agro-industry, energy, critical minerals, local manufacturing, tourism and the creative arts.
Attention on Jobs and Economic Growth
The upcoming budget is expected to attract significant attention from businesses, workers, students and households as Ghanaians look forward to policies that can improve economic opportunities.
Economist Professor Godfred Alufar Bokpin has called for clear employment targets and adequate funding in the budget. He has also urged investment in agriculture, agro-processing and infrastructure to support job creation.
Parliament is expected to scrutinise the proposed spending plans and economic measures after the Finance Minister delivers the statement.
The November 12 presentation will therefore provide an important indication of the government’s spending priorities and how it intends to sustain economic stability while pursuing growth and employment.
