Accra High Court Gives Chairman Wontumi Strict Ultimatum in Akonta Mining Trial

Lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, who represents Chairman Wontumi, says the legal team believes it has a good chance of success in its appeal against the reported 20-year prison sentence imposed on his client.

Atta Akyea expressed confidence in the appeal, indicating that the defence team intends to challenge the sentence through the appropriate legal process.

The appeal could give the court an opportunity to review the issues raised by the defence and determine whether the original decision should stand or be changed.

However, the lawyer’s confidence reflects the position of the defence team and does not guarantee the outcome of the appeal.
