Bawumia Speaks on NPP Constituency Elections: We are still a family Regardless of the Results

The internal political landscape of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is witnessing a major wave of active grassroots mobilization. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, thousands of dedicated party delegates trooped to various voting centers across all regions to elect their fresh constituency executive officers.

The nationwide exercise serves as a major structural foundation for the opposition party as it rebuilds its front. With various high-stakes positions up for grabs, party leaders are working extra hard to ensure the internal competition does not create deep divisions that could hurt their future national campaign plans.

Faced with the natural tensions that usually follow local internal contests, the flagbearer of the party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, moved quickly to calm the political waters. In a highly shared statement posted on his official Facebook page, the presidential candidate extended his warmest wishes to every single aspirant putting themselves forward to serve.

Bawumia noted that the sheer willingness of so many members to step up and lead reflects the enduring strength of the party’s deep democratic tradition. He sent a powerful reminder to all contestants that regardless of who wins or loses the local executive slots, every member ultimately belongs to the exact same political family.

The leadership of the party is placing a huge emphasis on maintaining absolute order to safeguard the image of the elephant family. The flagbearer encouraged all card bearing members to participate actively, peacefully, and with a high sense of responsibility throughout the weekend voting process.

He urged everyone to display the core values of discipline, solidarity, and mature democracy that have historically defined their political tradition since the inception of the Fourth Republic. This internal appeal comes at a crucial time when party managers want to prove to the general public that they can coordinate massive internal polls without any chaotic scenes or violent disruptions.

The real work for the newly elected constituency executives will begin immediately after the final ballot papers are sorted and counted. Dr. Bawumia explicitly called on all losing aspirants to drop their local grievances, accept the final results in good faith, and completely rally behind the chosen winners.

The political leadership emphasizes that a divided house cannot successfully win the hearts of ordinary Ghanaian voters in the near future. By building a solid, unified executive structure at the district level, the party will stand in a much stronger position to handle its upcoming national mobilization duties with maximum efficiency.
