President John Dramani Mahama has met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of the 8th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Summit.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Ghana and Egypt, particularly in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.President Mahama said the two countries agreed to streamline the registration process for Egyptian pharmaceutical products in Ghana.

According to him, the move is aimed at improving access to healthcare products while also attracting more investment into Ghana’s pharmaceutical sector.President Mahama disclosed the agreement in a post on Facebook after the engagement on Monday, October 5

The streamlined registration process is expected to make it easier for approved Egyptian pharmaceutical products to enter the Ghanaian market.

The discussions form part of efforts to deepen bilateral relations and strengthen economic and healthcare cooperation between Ghana and Egypt.

The two countries are expected to continue discussions on how the agreement can be implemented to support healthcare access and investment.
