The Ghana Police Service has announced a new date for the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, moving the rollout from October 1 to November 1, 2026.

The decision is intended to give motorists and the general public more time to understand how the system works before its nationwide implementation.

According to the Police Service, the additional period will be used for public education on the traffic offences the system will detect and how Electronic Notices of Violation will be issued to motorists who break traffic regulations.

Why Has the TRAFFITECH-GH Launch Been Postponed?

The extension is to ensure that drivers, vehicle owners and other road users are properly informed about the new automated traffic enforcement system.

With technology playing an increasing role in road safety, the initiative is expected to help monitor traffic violations and encourage motorists to comply with road regulations.

The Ghana Police Service is therefore urging motorists to take advantage of the additional time to familiarise themselves with the system and its requirements.

What Should Ghanaian Motorists Know?

Motorists should understand that TRAFFITECH-GH is designed to detect certain traffic offences automatically.

The system will also introduce Electronic Notices of Violation for offending motorists, making it important for drivers to stay informed about how these notices work.
