The head of Ghana’s Judiciary has firmly addressed growing public accusations that the judicial system targets politicians under the guise of accountability. Speaking at the Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Senior Staff Association in Fiapre, leadership clarified that specialized court divisions focus strictly on enforcing financial integrity, curbing public sector infractions, and tackling illegal mining.
For some time now, rumors have been flying around that these specialized courts exist only to persecute political opponents. But the Chief Justice rejected these claims directly. If a person has a clear conscience and nothing to hide in their cupboard, there is absolutely no reason to panic when special courts step in to restore order and protect taxpayers’ money.
The main goal of establishing these specialized units is simple and straightforward. Ghana loses huge sums of money every year through financial irregularities that appear in the Auditor-General’s annual reports. The courts aim to speed up trial proceedings, recover stolen state assets, and ensure strict compliance with legal surcharges.
Aside from setting the record straight on political bias, judicial leadership gave court staff a honest reality check. Staff members must stop delaying files and treating ordinary citizens with cold indifference. Asking the public to respect court authority while delivering poor internal service simply does not work. Efficiency and discipline must start right inside the court buildings.
At the same time, judicial workers called for better working conditions, fair salary negotiations, and renovated district court buildings to boost efficiency across all regions. Addressing high bail conditions was also highlighted to keep public confidence strong and ensure fair treatment for every Ghanaian.
In the end, Ghana’s legal system relies heavily on public trust and absolute impartiality. Political commentary will always noise around, but court decisions must strictly depend on solid evidence, sound legal logic, and the supreme constitution of the land.
