The Ghana Gold Board is making strong moves to secure a permanent home for its expanding operations. Led by Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, the institution has officially requested a three-acre land allocation located in Cantonments.

This strategic move aims to establish a central headquarters that will properly coordinate the country’s mineral trading activities. Finding space in such a prime Accra location usually comes with high costs and long bureaucratic delays.

Instead of spending massive amounts of cash to acquire the property outright, the agency has proposed a creative barter arrangement. Under this plan, GoldBod will construct a brand new, modern administrative facility for the Department of Parks and Gardens.

The swap ensures that public lands are put to efficient institutional use while providing both government bodies with durable infrastructure. It is a clever win-win deal that saves taxpayers money while upgrading public sector workplaces.

Operating under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), the agency handles the aggregation, assaying, and export of precious minerals. Having a permanent and well-equipped head office will greatly boost efficiency as the board works to strengthen the national economy.
