How This Lecturer Went From 4 Fs and 3 Es in SSSCE to Teaching at Oxford

Dr. George Amissah

Dr George Asiamah proves that poor secondary school grades do not define a person’s ultimate destiny in life.

The brilliant Ghanaian scholar once stared at a disappointing set of results featuring four Fs and three Es.

Today, that same struggling student walks the prestigious halls of Oxford University as an esteemed academic lecturer.

Growing up in Atwima Chichibong in the Ashanti Region presented numerous hurdles during his early basic education.

When his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination results came out in 2003, the outcome felt like an absolute disaster.

Frequent truancy and sudden changes to his school program left him unmotivated and missing classes for months.

Many people wrote him off because society often equates high school failure with permanent doom.

Determination finally kicked in when he gained admission into the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He completely changed his attitude, worked extra hard, and graduated to secure a Commonwealth Scholarship for his master degree.

That academic hunger took him straight to Queen University Belfast and later to the University of Sheffield for his doctorate.

His incredible transformation from a village truant into a global scholar inspires countless youth across the African continent.

He teaches everyone that temporary setbacks only serve as stepping stones rather than permanent roadblocks to success.
