Political drama in the garden city has reached a boiling point as loyal party members refuse to keep quiet. Hundreds of New Patriotic Party supporters stormed the Asokwa office in Kumasi to stage a massive vigil.

They gathered in their numbers wearing party colours and waving flags to show strong backing for their embattled leader.
The emotional gathering centers around Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi. He is currently facing heavy legal challenges following his conviction and a twenty year prison sentence. The court ruled against him in the Akonta Mining case regarding unlawful assignment of mineral rights and unlicensed mining operations at Samreboi.
Party faithfuls feel deeply pained by the judgment and are demanding total fairness and proper legal processes. They want the national leadership to stand shoulder to shoulder with the chairman during this difficult period. Marching and singing hymns at the party office became their chosen way to vent their frustrations.
Organisers of the vigil insist that justice must prevail for their beloved regional chairman. Supporters spent hours praying and calling on higher legal authorities to protect his rights as he appeals the verdict. The Ashanti Region remains charged up as everyone waits to see how this high profile legal battle unfolds.
