President John Dramani Mahama has invited the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES), the leadership of the striking teacher unions and six other institutions to a crucial meeting on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The meeting is expected to focus on the demands of the teacher unions and the issues that led to their industrial action.

The invitation comes as the government seeks to engage the unions and find a way to address their concerns.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education and GES are expected to join the discussions, alongside leaders of the affected teacher unions and the other invited institutions.

The meeting could provide an opportunity for both sides to present their positions and explore possible solutions to the ongoing dispute.

The outcome of the meeting may determine the next steps regarding the teachers’ strike and the return of normal teaching and learning activities.

Further details about the discussions and any decisions reached are expected after the meeting.
