MTN Ghana Slashes Fibre Broadband Prices, Introduces Faster Internet Packages

MTN Ghana has announced significant reductions in the prices of its fibre broadband packages while introducing new high-speed internet options aimed at improving affordability and access for customers across the country.

The revised pricing structure took effect on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, as part of the telecommunications company’s efforts to enhance broadband connectivity and respond to growing consumer demand for reliable internet services.

One of the most notable changes is the reduction in the price of MTN’s 100 Mbps unlimited monthly fibre package. The package, which previously cost GH¢987 per month, has been reduced to GH¢299, representing a substantial price cut for subscribers.

In addition to the revised 100 Mbps package, MTN Ghana has introduced a new 300 Mbps unlimited fibre package priced at GH¢444 per month. The company has also launched a premium 500 Mbps unlimited package at GH¢999 monthly, offering customers a wider range of internet speed options to meet different household and business needs.

The announcement has been welcomed by many consumers who have long expressed concerns about the cost of broadband services in Ghana.

Reacting to the development, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, praised the move and indicated that it followed engagements between the government and the telecommunications provider.

In a statement shared on social media, the Minister said: “You demanded. We engaged. MTN Ghana has responded.”

According to Mr. George, the Ministry had held discussions with MTN regarding the affordability and quality of fibre broadband services, following widespread public concerns about internet pricing and service reliability.

He expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana’s management for responding positively to the Ministry’s request to review broadband tariffs and improve accessibility for consumers.

The Minister further stated that the government remains committed to engaging telecommunications operators on issues relating to pricing, service quality, and digital inclusion.

The reduction in fibre broadband costs comes at a time when internet connectivity has become increasingly important for education, remote work, business operations, entertainment, and digital services.

Industry observers believe the revised pricing could encourage greater adoption of fibre broadband services across the country while increasing competition within Ghana’s telecommunications sector.

The introduction of higher-speed packages is also expected to support businesses, content creators, technology startups, and households that require faster and more reliable internet connections for data-intensive activities.

The latest announcement follows growing public calls for more affordable digital services and reflects ongoing efforts to expand access to high-speed internet as part of Ghana’s broader digital transformation agenda.

Customers can begin subscribing to the new fibre broadband packages immediately under the revised pricing structure.
