The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) delivered massive heat as St. Augustine’s College (Augusco) secured a dramatic quarter-final spot. The contest ended in pure confusion after competing schools walked off the stage in protest.
Trouble started early when Augusco challenged a Round One biology question about the meninges. The Quiz Mistress awarded them a partial point after consulting the quiz expert, breaking a tight tie with Kumasi High School.
Another single-point adjustment in the Problem of the Day pushed Augusco further ahead. By Round Four, St. Augustine’s held 39 points, leaving Anlo SHS at 34 and Kumasi High School at 27.
Feeling cheated by the extra points awarded to Augusco, Anlo SHS contestants abruptly walked off the stage before Round Five. Kumasi High School instantly followed suit, bringing the contest to a sudden halt.
With both opponents absent for the final Riddles round, the Quiz Mistress officially declared Augusco the winners. The controversial decision has sparked wild debates across social media, with fans arguing over the official scoring rules.
