Global football sensation Kailani Ibrahim, famously known as Powder Man, has transitioned from stadium fame to legal trouble after his arrest in Accra. The viral Black Stars supporter appeared before the Accra Circuit Court following allegations of an extensive international visa fraud operation.
Officers from the Documentation and Visa Fraud Unit of the Ghana Police Service Headquarters arrested him in East Legon. Authorities state that Ibrahim allegedly collected over $30,000 from more than 13 victims. He promised to secure travel visas to the United States, Canada, and Nicaragua, but failed to deliver and went into hiding.
Ibrahim gained international fame during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where his signature white powder celebrations in the stadium stands made him an iconic symbol of Ghanaian football culture. However, police reports indicate his viral popularity masked an illegal scheme targeting hopeful travelers desperate to go abroad.
According to the Ghana Police Service, visa fraud remains a serious criminal offense under the Criminal Offences Act. Legal experts and law enforcement agencies constantly remind citizens to apply for travel documents through official embassy channels rather than unverified middlemen.
The court proceedings attract significant public interest across Ghana as victims demand justice and full refunds of their money. Ibrahim remains in custody while prosecutors compile evidence and additional victim statements for the ongoing trial.
