President John Dramani Mahama has given strong assurance that the long abandoned Saglemi housing project will finally bounce back to life. During his official site inspection on August 20 2026, he confirmed that developer LMI Holdings has committed to delivering the first 700 residential units by March 2027. An initial phase of 1,500 units will be fully completed before the end of December 2027.
The ambitious affordable housing initiative previously suffered massive setbacks and severe vandalism after political transitions brought construction activities to a complete halt. Unscrupulous individuals stripped the site of vital installations like electrical wiring, bathroom fixtures, and underground telecommunication cables. Partnering with the private sector remains a clever strategy to salvage government investment and tackle the national housing deficit.
Prospective homeowners should prepare to register promptly on the official sales portal once management opens applications. High demand is expected because workers from nearby industrial zones like Tema and the Dawa corridor will scramble for these modern properties. President Mahama also hinted that more national housing schemes will roll out soon to ease accommodation burdens for ordinary families.
