Stepping into the fray, a vocal member of the NPP communications team named Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah dropped a wild take.
He jokingly suggested that Ghana should formally petition US President Donald Trump to come down and capture President John Mahama.
According to him, Trump should whisk the Ghanaian leader away just like he allegedly did to Venezuela’s President Maduro.
People on radio stations and social media could not keep a straight face after hearing this extreme political comparison.
Mixing international wahala with local politics
Using foreign political drama to score cheap local points is a classic style for some party communicators in our country.
Linking a port security lapse to international superpower politics sounds like an action movie script rather than serious governance.

Port authorities and customs officials are currently answering hard questions about how the cargo container slipped through undetected.
Instead of waiting for US intervention or calling for foreign arrests, our security agencies must clean up the mess right here.
After all, fixing our broken scanning systems is a better option than waiting for external forces to rescue us.
