Vice President Opoku Agyemang assures Diaspora of Economic Recovery Plans and job creation

The administrative framework guiding national fiscal management has entered a phase of proactive global engagement. Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has assured members of the Ghanaian community in Canada that the state is aggressively deploying structural recovery measures.

Speaking at a high-level town hall gathering on Friday June 19 2026, the Vice President emphasized that the government remains single-mindedly focused on restoring macroeconomic stability, driving down the domestic cost of living, and building a highly resilient business environment.

The state economic strategy relies on expanding industrial productivity windows and modernizing obsolete transport networks to spark fresh commercial growth.

Logic dictates that a developing nation cannot rapidly expand its gross domestic product if its factories and commercial centers shut down completely at dusk. To overcome this limitation, the government is championing its flagship 24-Hour Economy policy, an operational blueprint designed to shift manufacturing, logistics, and public services into a multi-shift nocturnal system.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang explained that this continuous production cycle will naturally optimize asset utilization and create sustainable employment opportunities for young professionals. Simultaneously, the state is rolling out the Big Push infrastructure initiative to systematically overhaul critical road networks and link local agrarian communities directly to urban consumer markets.

To cushion vulnerable populations, the state is coordinating a suite of social safety nets, including Feed Ghana agricultural incentives, Farmer Service Centres, MahamaCares relief funds, Free Primary Healthcare, and a dedicated Women’s Development Bank tailored for female entrepreneurs.

Hoping to build a prosperous middle-income state by simply waiting for global commodity prices to magically recover is an absolute logical error. While citizens living abroad are often skeptical about political policy speeches, transforming a domestic economy requires bold structural shifts rather than timid incremental adjustments.

True national development relies on robust institutional execution and steady regulatory frameworks. By introducing concrete legislative programs like the No-Fees Stress education policy and inviting diaspora capital to participate directly in local industrial expansions, the administration is using straightforward economic logic to create jobs, secure food systems, and build an inclusive society.
