West Ham United have officially parted ways with head coach Nuno Espírito Santo with immediate effect following a disappointing start to their Championship campaign.
The club confirmed the decision in a statement on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after reviewing the team’s performances and results.
The decision comes after consecutive home defeats against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion left West Ham eighth in the Championship table, six points behind league leaders Middlesbrough.
West Ham lost 3-2 to Southampton before suffering a 3-1 defeat against West Brom at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Assistant coaches also depart
Nuno’s departure also brings an end to the time of assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa, who have both left the club.
In its official statement, West Ham said the board believed a change was necessary to keep the club’s objectives and expectations on track.
The club added that the process of recruiting a new head coach was already underway.
Mark Noble takes temporary charge
Former West Ham captain Mark Noble, alongside Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville, will temporarily oversee preparations for the club’s upcoming Championship fixture against Cardiff City.
Meanwhile, former West Ham midfielder Scott Parker has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Nuno, with reports indicating that discussions are at an advanced stage.
Nuno leaves West Ham after failing to prevent the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season. He had remained in charge as the Hammers began their campaign in the second tier.
